Anniversary trip to Florida

Hunter and I took an anniversary trip to Santa Rosa Beach, Florida to celebrate 4 years of being married. It was a wonderful trip. We ate delicious seafood, relaxed in the sun and went on a great bike ride. I really am married to the funniest man. He has such a funny wit and is always making me laugh! Just take a look at the picture of him in front of the "cool" bikes we rode on and you can easily see what I am talking about! I was so excited when I found out Clare was going to be down there at the same time. So, we met up with her on Saturday night at Bud and Alley's and had a blast!

Tyner and Lily Grace Barnes

Ryan, Ashleigh, Lily Grace and Hastings Barnes stayed at their cabin down the road from us during the Memorial/Reunion weekend. Tyner and Lily Grace had more fun together. It was so much fun watching the two of them play. It was like a flashback to childhood for Ryan and me. They played on the slip and slide, played in the pool, and of course giggled and giggled!!

Class Reunion

Our ten year class reunion was an absolute blast! We truly had the best class and it was so much fun getting back with good friends and catching up. Of course there were great stories told and lots of laughter! Friday we went to Ford McElroy's house. I walked into his den to the sound of Lead Out playing on his T.V. That was hilarious!! Saturday everyone went to my parents house at Moon Lake. During highschool we spent lots and lots of weekends at Moon Lake at our cabin so it was fun to have everyone back out to one of our favorite spots! Saturday night we went to Hopson and danced until we couldn't dance anymore! Will Estess, Ryan Barnes and I received the award for most children. We were thrilled to receive our great looking trophy!

Playing in the Backyard

So, when we got home from Cheekwood Daddy was waiting on us with our nice, clean backyard that he worked so hard on! Hunter spent all day smoking some delicious BBQ and working in the yard! The boys hit golf balls while Maggie and I had a great time swinging! We are really enjoying this beautiful weather!

Cheekwood Botanical Gardens

Saturday was an absolutely beautiful day! So, we loaded up in the car with our sack lunch and blanket in hand and headed to Cheekwood Botanical Gardens. We strolled around the gardens and looked at all different types of flowers, herbs, trees, etc... They are in the process of getting the grounds ready for Happily Ever After. It is a summer outdoor exhibition of various fairy tales! I think I am more excited about this than my children. We saw the grounds crew working on the sets of The Three Little Pigs, Rapunzel, and Cinderella! Check out www.cheekwood.org to find out more about this incredible exhibition! After hour stroll around the grounds we stopped and laid out a blanket and enjoyed our picnic!

The Fruits of the Spirit

This is a picture of our "Fruits of the Spirit" tree. We are trying to learn and talk about the Fruits of the Spirit. It is amazing how much a 3 year old can understand! So, with this tree hanging in our kitchen it is a constant reminder of the Godly traits that Jesus wants us to display!

This is what I do for fun!

Ever want to know what I am doing while Tyner and Maggie are taking a nap? Well, this is it! I am sewing! My sweet mother introduced me to the world of sewing before Tyner was born and boy did she create a monster!! It is so addicting! At this moment I am juggling all these projects. The bishop I am smocking is my very first one and I am looking forward to seeing what the finished product will look like. The train insert that is partially smocked is a project that I have been working on for a year and a half! I can't wait to get through with it! I hope it still fits Tyner by the time I am done with it. I am smocking a bubble with Raggedy Ann for Maggie and a matching brother outfit for Tyner with Raggedy Andy! I will post the end result of all these projects. But can't tell you how soon that will be! Hopefully sooner than later. Maybe this will inspire some of you to begin this fun hobby!!

Our new swing

Monday was a fun day. After Maggie woke up form her morning nap we went to YMCA(which we do almost every morning!). I packed us a sack lunch and from there we went to Palmer Park and played and ate our lunch. It was a beautiful day and lots of fun! After our afternoon naps Hunter hung up Maggie's new swing and we played in the backyard. We will have a great time playing as a family in our backyard on our swingset!

Mother's Day

Mother's Day was a wonderful day. I woke up to Hunter telling me Happy Mother's Day and our church showed a wonderful slide show of all the babies born in 07/08 so it was exciting to see a picture of my children on the screen. It is hard to believe Maggie has almost been with us a year! Maggie was napping while I took these pictures. I am very blessed to be able to be a mother and cherish these moments I have with them!

Givng more kisses!

Maggie has learned how to stand up all by herself and is doing it all the time now. So, I wouldn't be surprised if she tried to take her first step here pretty soon. Tyner even knows it is a big deal, too. Every time she stand up he scream, "Mommy, Maggie stannin up!" Maggie get more excited when she sees her big brother walk into a room than if Hunter or I do. She starts squealing and laughing. So, now that she loves giving her kisses away- I couldn't resist videoing her trying to give Tyner a kiss!

Girls Day!

On Thursdays Tyner goes to school. So, it is just the girls for most of the day. Maggie has learned about giving kisses and it is adorable. I had to video her giving her Daddy a kiss. We also played clap-clap with the spoons. We were working on her hand/eye coordination! (Can you tell I used to be a school teacher?) I must say she does a very good job! She loved the sound they made!

A big day for Maggie!

Maggie in her squat and crawling on her hands and toes! I am chasing her everywhere!Today was a big day for Maggie. We just returned home from strolling and I was walking to the back of the house. I looked to see if Maggie was following me and I turned around and there she was standing up in the middle of the room! I tried for a while to get her to do it again and every time she did I couldn't get it on camera. Well, I was just playing around videoing her and low and behold she just stood right up and I caught it all! Sorry it is a little dark!

The 4 newest members to our family

This is a picture of the fountain that is in the front of our house. Well, Hunter decided he wanted to get some fish to put in it. He took Tyner with him to get them and Tyner named them. We now have 4 new members to our family and these are their names: The Polar Express Fish, Emo Fish (that's Nemo to us), Blue fish (and no it is not blue) and Pretty Fish. Tyner named them all by himself. (if you couldn't already tell)

Saturday mornings at the Simpsons

Tyner enjoyed playing with his trucks with his raccoon hat that Hunter got for him months ago. He found it in his room and wore it around the house. Kids are so funny!

Verse of the Week

Our verse this week is Luke 2:9-11. "An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all people. Today in the town of David a SAvior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.

Biblical Virtues to pray for my children

Humility.
"God, please cultivate in Tyner and Maggie the ability to show true humility toward all."
